Beavers suffer two straight losses in week action
Dillon Beavers dropped back to back league games at home losing 38-17 to Miles City Cowboys and 42 to Twin Bridges. Lucas of Custer sparked the visitors as Dillon trailed 18-7 at halftime. Twin Bridges used hot shooting and tight defense to finish the Dillon run. A polio benefit game with the Bull Whips was arranged for 8 PM in Normal gym, proceeds to the 1948 March of Dimes fund.

Phillips Draws Year in Prison
Wilbur K. Phillips pleaded guilty in district court and received a one year sentence to the state prison. He was taken to Deer Lodge by undersheriff Boyd Quick after sentencing. He had been arraigned Oct. 27 on a charge related to a cashed check. John Selvidge, arrested in Idaho, faces trial after returning to Lima. Claude Starley, arraigned in justice court, entered a plea of innocent to a third degree assault charge with no arraignment date set.

Fire Chief Reports 1947 Losses and Alarms
Fire Chief Ott Vandegrift says city insurance losses for 1947 rose to 5610 from 3280 the prior year. Total fire damage in buildings reached 102400 though losses were light overall, with 5000 tied to the Davis Conoco blaze in March. The department answered 31 alarms, up from 19 in 1946.

Brigadier General Mitchell to Visit Dillon Thursday

City Council Reviews Water and Sewer Improvements
John Morrison of Morrison Engineering in Helena met with the city council to discuss water and sewer upgrades estimated at 225000 dollars. The plan includes 60000 for a new water reservoir and 165000 for sewer trunk lines and a disposal plant to prevent Blacktail Creek pollution. Financing would come from revenue bonds and city millage.
