Court Hears Manslaughter Case and Multiple Trials

Long Journey for Trout from Montana to Calcutta

From Bozeman Montana rainbow trout will be shipped to Calcutta India via San Francisco Hong Kong and British Steamship Company lines. W T Thompson superintendent of the government fish hatchery in Bozeman received instructions from Washington to prepare the shipment. The fish will be turned over to the British fisheries department through the British consuls. This marks the first introduction of Montana speckled trout into the Orient.

Johnson Fined 500 For Assault At Lima School

J M Johnson of Lima was fined 50 for assaulting FE M Evans principal of the Lima school and another 50 for upbraiding and insulting Evans. Johnson's 15 year old son Walter was given probation with possible reform school action, pending further proceedings. The case stemmed from a dispute over punishment of Walter and alleged choking reported by the son’s sister.

Safe Robbed in Armstead Store

Burglars gained entry by removing front door glass at Wed um s store in Armstead and took 66.50 from the safe and cash register. The theft occurred between Monday night and Tuesday morning 12 to 8. Sheriff deputies arrested Heywood Brown and Robert Fever by five o clock yesterday, both previously jailed on a vagrancy charge.

Forest Service Plans Timber Cruise in Big Hole Area

The Forest Service will survey about 100000 acres between French Gulch and Pintler Creek in the Big Hole country once spring weather allows. A 200000000 foot merchantable timber strip near Pintler Creek lies inside Bea Verhead forest boundaries. About 15 men will cruise 40 acre blocks to produce a detailed report and maps guiding future logging operations.

Billings Montana January 12 The Billings sugar factory ended its nearly four month campaign last Saturday and set records. It processed about 138000 acres of sugar beets, roughly 4000 more than last year, and sliced 240000 tons earning farmers about one and a half million dollars.
