Public Construction Projects Underway in Dillon
About a third of a million dollars is being spent on three major public works in Dillon this year funded by state and federal sources. The Normal college residence hall remodels with contracts over $164,000 should finish by next December. A new viaduct over Oregon Short Line tracks on Highway 91 south of Dillon is under way, with the Lawlor Company of Butte as contractor, to end grade crossings in Beaverhead County. The post office project progresses with first story walls complete and finishing on schedule.

No Inquest Declared in Death of Patrick Tourney
Patrick Tourney a 26 year old barber from the Big Hole basin was found dead Monday morning in a Jackson beer parlor with a bullet wound to the chest and a 38 caliber revolver nearby. Sheriff James A. McCollum stated there was no doubt he shot himself and no inquest will be held. Continued on page 4.

Mrs Elfreda Woodside was installed as worthy matron and Fred Woodside as worthy patron of Mizah chapter Eastern Star at the Masonic temple. Centennial Valley Home Burns Down
A six room house on the old Staudaher ranch in Centennial valley was destroyed by fire on Sunday. The Poindexter and Orr Livestock Company owned the property. the cause is unknown. Caretaker Jay McCarthy saw smoke moments before the house burned, with furnishings lost and partial insurance coverage reported. Firefighters were alerted by an North Idaho street call about 9 o'clock Thursday morning to a separate chimney blaze at a house occupied by Carl Nelson with minor damage.

County Commissioners Urged to Plan Beaverhead Fair
Beaverhead county board of commissioners, in regular session, was asked to explore a county fair next fall. Local businessman T B Luebben discussed renewal of the annual exposition. The board urged interested parties to confer at the February meeting and will follow taxpayers’ wishes. Appointments set for January were postponed due to Commissioner Hartwig’s absence.

Birthday ball to aid fight polio in city hall
The birthday ball, billed as the biggest party in the world, will be held at the city auditorium Thursday night January 30 to raise funds for anti polio efforts. Most proceeds go to St. Vincent's hospital in Billings with remainder to the national headquarters. Warren M. Stone chairs the event with Don's and Deans bands providing music. Beaverhead county high opens 1936 basketball season this week with games against Butte Central, then on to Butte high. The Beavers face Whitehall and Virginia City in district play with several returnees from last year. Normal opens its season Friday night hosting Carroll College.

Mrs Pauline Woody age 39 wife of James Woody prominent local stockman died last Tuesday at her home near Jackson after a long illness. Native of North Carolina she had lived in Beaverhead county twenty years and is survived by her husband four children a sister and other relatives. Beaverhead county levies for 1935 call for a total property tax of 23 461 008 a drop of 7 029 00 from 1934 except for cities and towns which rise 23 989. Former Beaverhead Resident Dies in Helena Hospital
Cecil W. Carr age 48, longtime Beaverhead county resident, died Thursday night in a Helena hospital after a long illness. A Michigan native, he lived in the county about five years before moving to Fort Peck last spring, later working in Helena. Funeral services were held this afternoon at Brundage chapel with the Grace Methodist church officiating, the American Legion providing military rites. a sister from Rapid City, South Dakota, attended.
