Frederick C. Kress Dies After Asthmatic Attack
Frederick C. Kress founder editor and proprietor of The Dillon Examiner died suddenly at his home after an asthmatic attack and heart failure. Services were held at his South Washington street residence with a large crowd, floral tributes, and music. He was born in Germany and had a long career in journalism and civic work, with burial at Mountain View cemetery.

Frederick Conrad Kress born October 12 1865 in Ludwigsburg Germany rose from a German church school to a career in journalism in America. He helped build Dillon Montana through The Examiner since 1891 and served on the State Normal College board since 1897 while upholding a motto of a square deal and absolute integrity.

A Sunday union service at the Methodist Episcopal church gathered congregations from Presbyterian Episcopal Baptist and Methodist churches to promote good citizenship. Spearheaded by Dr H H Swain and Prof L R Foote with local ministers, the meeting supports a midnight saloon curfew and aims to organize a civic league to enforce laws and reduce public violations.

Beaverhead county's Dr Jas L Jones longtime coroner and county physician died at Wisdom last Saturday due to heart failure. He practiced in Dillon Glendale Melrose and other towns before moving to the Big Hole basin in Wisdom. Interment was at Mountain View. survived by wife Mig Ide Maddox and children Vera Arthur and Herbert Maddox.
