Matron Rosa Van Houtin Dies at 82 in Wisdom
Rosa J. Van Houtin, 82, died suddenly at her Wisdom home after a brief illness. Born August 30, 1865 in Terre Haute Indiana, she married Ben Van Houtin in Indiana. The couple led pioneering ranch life in Nebraska Idaho and Wyoming before settling in Wisdom in 1893. They celebrated their 60th anniversary last year. Survived by her husband three sons and daughters in law eight grandchildren five great grandchildren a daughter and son in law and siblings in Indiana. Funeral held at the Wisdom American Legion hall with Legion auxiliary services and interment in the local cemetery.

Illness Fatal to Aged Ranch Hand at Beaverhead County Farm
Pete Ford, 80, long-time Beaverhead County resident, died Tuesday morning at the county farm after a lengthy illness. Born in Fort Laramie, Wyoming, he moved here as a young man and worked on several ranches in the area. No relatives are known to friends. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Vern Hinman Found Dead in Larsen Addition Home
Vern Hinman about 67 was found dead in his cabin in the Larsen addition last Saturday afternoon by police officers. Death occurred about 24 hours earlier. Coroner Raymond Schwartz said no inquest would be held as the death appeared natural. Hinman had worked as a county herder and is survived by his wife, daughter, and a son Edgar in army service.

Pleads Guilty to Furnishing Minors Liquor
Edwin Fisher a 23 year old from Whitehall pleaded guilty in justice court to furnishing minors with intoxicating liquor. Judge Louis Stahl fined him 250 dollars and suspended six months in county jail. He was arrested near the high school by Chief Dan Mooney while under surveillance with several boys. The fine was paid.

Recital Pleases Local Audience at Normal College
Ralph McFadden and Brinton Jackson, music instructors at the Normal college, staged a Sunday recital in the college auditorium that drew a large audience. Rex Paul Griffith Dies From Atlantic Street Crash Injuries
Rex Paul Griffith aged 23 died at Barrett hospital Saturday morning from injuries sustained in the fatal Atlantic street wreck Friday night that also killed Donald Laden and Barbara Lee Hayes. A Dillon native, Griffith served in both the army and navy and was a popular youth. He is survived by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Military rites were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 by Beaverhead post American Legion with Rev. Walter Daggett officiating.

Mrs Marie Wenger 73 Dies in Big Hole Basin
Mrs Marie Margaret Wenger, 73, longtime resident of the Big Hole basin, died Saturday at Barrett hospital after a brief illness. Born in Switzerland in 1875, she came to America with Jules E. Wenger in 1897 and lived on a Jackson area ranch before moving to Wisdom. Surviving children include sons John Jules E jr Charles W and others. daughters Mrs Fr Schonenberger Mrs M Walter Richardson Mrs Ha dd E Contway and Mrs Wayne Stocks. A member of the American Legion auxiliary, she was buried at Mountain View cemetery after services at Grace Methodist church conducted by Rev James M Hunter. Interment followed.

Wells Brothers founder of Dillon flour mill dies at 81
Charles Wells 81 longtime Dillon resident died at Barrett hospital early Saturday after a flu illness. Born Nov 5 1866 in Forest Illinois he moved to Dillon in 1887. He and his brother built a feed grinding mill on Kentucky Avenue about 32 years ago and ran Wells Bros. He served as Dillon’s street sprinkler in earlier days and left a legacy of honesty and friendly service. He is survived by his brother Lewis S Wells a niece Mrs John Stevenson a nephew Jim Koch a sister Mrs Frank Koch of Moorcroft Wyoming and several other relatives. Funeral Monday at Brundage chapel with Rev James M Hunter officiating burial at Mountain View.
