Forest service delays sheep range restriction after state talks

A Missoula conference led to a one year stay on enforcing a proclamation limiting sheep range on Absaroka and Gallatin forests to aid elk winter feeding. Governors and county sheep men argued the move would harm two million five hundred thousand dollars of livestock value. Col. A B Coit cited forty thousand head affected. supervisor J D Warner called the adjustment satisfactory and between state officials and sheepmen, not the forest service.
