In regular session February 3 1936 Beaverhead county Montana board appointed J H Gilbert W S Tash and Pearl I Smith to two year terms on the high school board. R M Barrett James N Mansfield and C C Blinn were reappointed for one year terms. Alice C Olmsted and Miss May Sprinkle retained on the examination board.

Mrs Margaret J Roberts formerly of Dillon died last Wednesday at her home in Alhambra California after a long illness She was a native of Ohio born 67 years ago She came to the Dillon community about 40 years ago living on a ranch near Dillon Her husband the late William Roberts was a prominent Beaverhead Valley rancher The body was brought to Dillon and the funeral held Monday afternoon at Brundage chapel The Rev J A Meeke officiated and interment was in Mountain View Cemetery Mrs Roberts son William and his wife of Salt Lake City attended the services

The American Legion Auxiliary met February 10 at city hall with presiding president Mrs. F. G. Lyon. Helena visitor Mrs. Crockett spoke on tuberculosis. Papers on Americanism and National Defense were read by Miss Stickney and Mrs. O’Leary. A post-meeting program at Mrs. Lyon’s home featured Polish costumes and a flag knowledge contest won by Mrs. Jeppson. Music by Mrs. Nellie Poole marked the holiday observance.

Friday opened with school good-turn day, field day postponed due to cold weather, and Sunday church day at the Methodist church. Prof. Lee R. A father and son banquet was planned for tonight at the Methodist church parlors and next Saturday February 16 the regular field day will be held.

Forger Pleads Guilty Two-Year Term
Monty Holmes pleaded guilty to forgery and received a two year state prison term from Judge Lyman H. Bennett. Holmes was taken to Deer Lodge after arrest on a counterfeit check at Montana Mercantile. The case followed prior convictions. other sentences for distur bi ng the peace were suspended. A rancher, Peter Cook, was taken to Warm Springs for mental evaluation after neighbor complaints.

Monida Merchant Found Dead in Butte Hotel
O J Smith aged 65 longtime Monida merchant was found dead in his Butte Grand hotel room from a gunshot wound. A suicide note to hotel owner H W Balter stated he had nothing to live for and asked forgiveness. Coroner Duff said the wound entered the mouth and penetrated the skull. a revolver lay nearby. No inquest will be held.

Rancher Andrew Shutte Dies of Heart Attack Near Dillon
Andrew Shutte a prominent Beaverhead valley rancher died suddenly at his ranch home about two miles north of Dillon from a heart attack. He was 51 and had lived in the community for years. He leaves former wife Lucy Spehar four stepchildren and two brothers in Michigan. Funeral services were held at St Rose Catholic Church with High Mass by Rev Father F X Lechner and burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
