Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Burglary

Williams pled guilty to burglary in district court before Judge Henry G. Rodgers and was jailed in Deer Lodge. The theft involved Eliel Brothers store on New Year's Eve with articles later found in his possession. He had been arrested two days after the crime, marking a second arrest on the same charge.

Substantial Reserve for Future Emergencies Proposed

Felena February 9 Buildings A2 and repairs recommended by the house allocation committee call for expenditure of 1,995,893 of the 3,000,000 bond issue voted last November. The reserve would cover possible future emergencies while funding various state institutions. Allocations include State College Bozeman 93,000 for shop and repairs, Industrial School Miles City 67,105 for cottages, Two New Schools Eastern Montana Normal Billings 232,600 for administration building, Northern Montana Havre 282,500 for administration building, with further lines for other facilities and improvements.

Training School Instructor Speaks at Dillon Rotary Luncheon

Mrs Emma Bauer Golden of the training school faculty spoke at the Dillon Rotary Club luncheon on the Southwest region its people and customs. She described climate scenery and history and Indian customs. Dr S B Davis spoke on the four year course for the Normal college noting many teachers colleges have adopted it. The club will observe Rotary's 20th anniversary on Feb 26. Charles Woodburn chaired the meeting.

Jones Sentenced Four Years For Automobile Theft

J A Jones received a four year state prison term from Judge Henry G Rodgers after pleading guilty to automobile theft. Sheriff W C Orr and Melvin Smith transported Jones to Deer Lodge to begin serving the sentence. Jones had prior incarceration in Walla Walla Washington.

Beaverhead County Montana county commissioners held a regular meeting on February 2, 1981. Present were Commissioners Hartwig Jackson and Gosman along with Clerk Baker. Minutes from the prior session were approved and several budget transfers were ordered including 100 from Legal Publications to Telephone and Telegraph and 60 from Other Expense to Printing Postage and Stationery.

Montana counties will receive a total of 31 644 12 from the 26 per cent oil production tax for 1930 with Cascade receiving 2 714 36 and Beaverhead 477 71. Warrants go to county treasurers and fund high schools across the county. Broadwater is listed at 162 77 in the same apportionment.

Elk Drum Corps Hosts Armstead Dance Tomorrow

Elk Drum Corps of Dillon Elks lodge No 1654 will host a dance in Gordon hall Armstead tomorrow night. The event features a public exhibition drill prior to the dance, Dik glee club numbers, specialty dances by Hanson Kenison Herndon Anderson, and vocal solos by Dave Hier.
