Williams pled guilty to burglary in district court before Judge Henry G. Rodgers and was jailed in Deer Lodge. The theft involved Eliel Brothers store on New Year's Eve with articles later found in his possession. He had been arrested two days after the crime, marking a second arrest on the same charge.
Felena February 9 Buildings A2 and repairs recommended by the house allocation committee call for expenditure of 1,995,893 of the 3,000,000 bond issue voted last November. The reserve would cover possible future emergencies while funding various state institutions. Allocations include State College Bozeman 93,000 for shop and repairs, Industrial School Miles City 67,105 for cottages, Two New Schools Eastern Montana Normal Billings 232,600 for administration building, Northern Montana Havre 282,500 for administration building, with further lines for other facilities and improvements.
Mrs Emma Bauer Golden of the training school faculty spoke at the Dillon Rotary Club luncheon on the Southwest region its people and customs. She described climate scenery and history and Indian customs. Dr S B Davis spoke on the four year course for the Normal college noting many teachers colleges have adopted it. The club will observe Rotary's 20th anniversary on Feb 26. Charles Woodburn chaired the meeting.

J A Jones received a four year state prison term from Judge Henry G Rodgers after pleading guilty to automobile theft. Sheriff W C Orr and Melvin Smith transported Jones to Deer Lodge to begin serving the sentence. Jones had prior incarceration in Walla Walla Washington.
City officials review routine February business as the Be Boy Scouts shadow the council for a day. Claims paid include Standard Lumber coal 361.35 Beaverhead Auto Sales 34.64 Electric Shop 6.35 Graeter-Waldorf 2.20 Hughes & McCaleb 2.80 Bergeson Motors 0.70 Dillon Oil 3.24 Phillips Garage 10.35 in various general fund expenses.
The winter district court term opened with civil suit Joe Callow v Otto Christensen over $300 wages. The jury awarded Callow $150. Judge Henry G. Rodgers presided as residents from all county sections attended as jurors.
Tombstone native Ike Curry known as Hard Luck Ike broke his leg in a past rodeo and had the limb amputated. Latest items state he was brought before Judge R M Hattersly after pleading guilty to a charge, with a sentence of seven years hard labor.
The Melrose masque ball is scheduled for Saturday February 21. The event aims to draw a large crowd from Dillon and will feature prizes for best dressed couple best dressed man best dressed woman and best comic character. Music by the Redheads dance band from Dillon. A midnight portion follows.

Montana State Normal's Bulldogs host Intermountain Union for a top vigor game at the local college gym Saturday night. The Moemen beat the Panthers earlier, but Helena’s squad has improved, and Coach O K Moo expects a hard fought tussle.
The business men's committee on holidays announces that Washington's Birthday falls on Sunday this year. The holiday will be observed on Monday February 23 with all stores and offices closed.
The American Legion prepares its annual minstrel and vaudeville show with rehearsals underway. Manager Melvin Smintth says the program features varied entertainment and promises one of the best productions yet staged in Dillon. A feature minstrel act will depart from past performances and adopt a fresh approach inspired by Amos and Andy.
Beaverhead County Montana county commissioners held a regular meeting on February 2, 1981. Present were Commissioners Hartwig Jackson and Gosman along with Clerk Baker. Minutes from the prior session were approved and several budget transfers were ordered including 100 from Legal Publications to Telephone and Telegraph and 60 from Other Expense to Printing Postage and Stationery.
Montana counties will receive a total of 31 644 12 from the 26 per cent oil production tax for 1930 with Cascade receiving 2 714 36 and Beaverhead 477 71. Warrants go to county treasurers and fund high schools across the county. Broadwater is listed at 162 77 in the same apportionment.
The Eliel Red Phantoms overpower Naconda Anodes 38 to 19 at Normal gym. Roberts, Contway and Breeden spark the first half surge to a 22-5 lead. Williams, Yost and Brick anchor defense as the visitors rally late but fall short. Roberts tops scorers.
Beaverhead County High School basketball team defeated Butte High 26 22 and Anaconda 21 17 at the Normal gym. Coach Brick Breeden’s Beavers extend an unbeaten streak over the Smelter City quint while aiming for a standout mining district record. Next Friday they host Sheridan High in a double header with the Deaverettes likely facing Sheridan girls.
Elk Drum Corps of Dillon Elks lodge No 1654 will host a dance in Gordon hall Armstead tomorrow night. The event features a public exhibition drill prior to the dance, Dik glee club numbers, specialty dances by Hanson Kenison Herndon Anderson, and vocal solos by Dave Hier. A popular orchestra will provide dance music.
Dillon Scouts observe the national anniversary with church services led by the Rev. F X Lechner and a week of good turns. The Monday schedule includes a community event as the Scouts take part in local government duties following days of individual and troop service. Mon Feb 23 date set for the Dillon Fire Department Masquerade Ball with prizes for best costumes.
