Deaths in County Decline for 1936 Bea verhead

Beoverhead county reports 64 deaths in 1936 a drop from 70 in 1935 and 73 in 1934. Eight deaths were by accident or violence including one alleged murder and two crisis cases. Drowning auto accidents accidental gunshot freezing and heat prostration caused single deaths. Most fatal months were March and May with nine each, November had seven and August three.

Youngsters of Dillon Enjoy Christmas Party at Masonic Lodge

About 75 youngsters from Dillon and surrounding area attended a Christmas party at Dillon lodge No. 16 A F and A M in the Masonic hall. Santa presided at a fish pond and gifts, candy, nuts, fruit, and Hartwig theatre tickets were given. Cake and ice cream topped the evening as entertainments included readings songs and dances by the guests.

Andy Snell, a popular colored porter, lies in Barrett hospital with five broken ribs after a Saturday night assault on North Washington street. State Titles Annexed by Beaverhead

Beaverhead county shows a rich haul of state championships with two Dillon teams earning top honors. Montana State Normal's Bulldogs won the state college conference title for the third straight year while Beaverhead county high's Beavers took district regional and state Class B crowns. The Dillon Gun club dominated state trapshooting by sweeping the annual state shoot in Helena, winning the Montana Standard postal shoot for the fifth year and the state team title.

Cupid had a busy year in Beaverhead county as the clerk's office records show 118 marriage licenses issued in the year ending, an increase of 17 from the prior year. The report notes July and August 1935 had two months with notable activity.

Cosgrove Clinic Opens in Los Angeles

Cosgrove brothers Clair and Jay B. Cosgrove have finished a $20,000 Los Angeles building to house the Cosgrove Clinic. The 23-room facility includes private consult rooms eight treatment rooms a surgery area recovery rooms bathrooms a residence and x ray room. The public opening is set for January 10 with Dillon relatives invited to attend.

Elk Distribution Talk Near Dillon Sparks Regional Debate

Beaverhead Officers to Begin Terms

Beaverhead county officers will begin their new terms on Monday January 4 with few courthouse personnel changes. Paul H. Temple becomes sheriff succeeding James A. McCollum and appoints John Troupe Wisdom as undersheriff and Ted Renfro Dell as deputy. A new district judge will preside in Beaverhead Madison and Jefferson counties in the fifth judicial district Henry G Rodgers of Dillon a former judge of the district.

Beaverhead county residents shared a festive Christmas with much goodwill and hints of returning prosperity. Dillon churches held Christmas day services and church schools held seasonal events including St James Episcopal midnight services and St Rose parish mass.

Resident County For Thirty Years Passes Wednesday

Ed Baker longtime Beaverhead county resident died last Wednesday evening at the county farm after a long illness. He was 78 and had lived in the county for 30 years, working as a sheep shearer and ranch laborer on several ranches. No relatives were located. Funeral held Thursday afternoon at Brundage chapel with Rev. J. A. Meeke of the Methodist church officiating.
