Popular Beaverhead youth dies after brief illness
Brnard Underwood, 19, a Beaverhead county high school senior, died Sunday at his home after a brief illness. Doctors attributed paralysis of the lungs to the death. He had played five minutes in a game with the Dillon Merchants at the Normal gym the night before, despite headaches.

Old Excelsior Mine rediscovered after months of work
Gus Sorenson a 68 year old Beaverhead ranch laborer died Monday morning at the county farm where he had been a inmate for several months. Efforts to locate relatives were fruitless. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon. Old Excelsior mine near Beaverhead county was rediscovered last week by I B Mining company men after six months of exploration. The mine was found at 4 o clock last Tuesday morning and had been mined since 1870 by William Farlin then sold to Phil Bhenon for 256 dollars. It produced gold garnet ore and tellarium before abandonment. Continued on page 8.
