Slight Decrease in Deaths in Beaverhead County

Beaverhead county shows 68 deaths for the year, a small drop of one from last year. The month with the most fatalities is May with nine. July August and April each report three deaths. The list records names ages and towns for January February and March deaths including Hans Johnson 66 Dillon and Astrid Hansen 22 Dell among others.

The Rev Leonard Thompson pastor of the First Lutheran church for five years will leave next week with his family for Glenwood Minnesota where he accepted a new call last October. He will serve his new charge starting soon.

Elks Complete Plans for New Year's Party

Resident of Reichle Dies After Short Illness

Julius Hartwig sr 81 a Reichle ranch resident for 61 years died Monday afternoon after a brief illness. Born Davenport June 19 1862 he came to Dillon in 1882 lived at Reichle most his life. Survived by wife Pauline 1892 marriage two daughters Mrs John Hand and Mrs Russell Hurst a son Julius Hartwig Jr eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral Thursday 2 pm Brundage chapel Dillon pastor Rev Leonard Thompson will officiate and interment Mountain View cemetery.

Ranch Hand John Thornsberry Found Dead at Dillon Ranch

John A. Thornsberry a 48 year old ranch hand at the P and O south of Dillon was found dead in a cook house Friday morning with a bullet wound in his head. Coroner Raymond Schwartz ruled it a self inflicted death after investigation. Thornsberry had been despondent for days but appeared in good spirits that morning. He had worked on the ranch about ten years and served in the Army with discharge in 1927. Relatives lived in Crocker Missouri and the body was moved there Monday for burial.
