Children of Dillon Lodge Host Christmas Party
Dillon Lodge No 16 A F and A M hosted 75 local children at a Christmas party in the Masonic hall. The event featured a volunteer committee, assistance from the Rainbow Girls, a gift sack of candy and nuts and a toy from Santa Claus, plus ice cream for the youngsters.

Wandering 1855 Dollar Returns After 25 Years
Mrs J N Cosgrove of 209 South Seventh reports a gold 1855 dollar, once taken from the Baker home in Dillon Montana in 1902, reappeared by mail 25 years later with a note from a neighborhood playmate. The coin, pierced for a locket, became a cherished family keepsake with value beyond its mint.

Beaverhead Prepares to Welcome One Hundred Elk
Beaverhead Sportsmen’s association will receive 100 elk from Yellowstone Park for stocking. Trapping by park and forest officers starts this week. Elk to be planted in foothills 25 to 30 miles south of Dillon with transport by local truck owners. Fund-raising supported trapping costs and a forecast open season in four to five years.

Be n exposed winter depths. Dillon saw a 12 to 16 below zero range with a 12 degree low reported by Normal College weather officials. Ranches in Beaverhead valley registered 20 to 25 below. A miniature blizzard caused drifting roads, burst pipes, and frozen cars while north south highway remained open. A white Christmas seems assured with no thaw in sight.

Dillon Elks Lodge Initiates Eighteen Candidates
The Dillon Elks lodge initiated 18 candidates at its regular meeting with E. A. Peterson of Bozeman visiting as district deputy for Montana West. It was the lodge’s largest class in two to three years, followed by a brief address and a social in the drum corps headquarters with refreshments. The Dillon Chamber of Commerce publicity committee also met.

Party From Here Skis to Elkhorn Springs Sunday
A Dillon group skied to Elkhorn Springs from Farley in three hours. They found 18 inches of snow on the level and two feet at the cabins. Moose frequented the area as the springs looked especially beautiful. Participants included Bill Bergeson and family, Kenneth Wheat and family, K D Flock and family, Elmo Winn and companions, Fielding Graves, George Christiansen, and Elizabeth and Jean Ballard.
