Beaverhead County Birth Records Highlight 1926 Balance

Beaverhead County birth records show eighty three children born in the past twelve months with forty eight boys and thirty five girls. The report notes a total of eighty six births in 1926 with a gender split of thirty four girls and twenty two boys. Monthly totals list January July November December with twelve births, August eight, February and May seven, March six, April and September five, and October four. The year records one set of twins.

Ogaard Heads Seed Council of North America

Helena December 21 A Montana agronomist A J Ogaard was elected president of the Seed Council of North America at its first meeting linked to the grain and city show in Chicago last month. He has led the International Crop Improvement Association for three years and promoted better seed across Montana and western states. The council aims for uniform seed policies and proposes state seed law recommendations. Meetings will be annual with invitees from the International Crop Improvement Association to discuss the pure seed program. Continues on Page 8.

Peterson Buys Cardwell Herefords In Big Hole Deal

John Peterson, cattle king of Horse Prairie, purchased the Cardwell herd of Hereford cattle for about 100000. Sam Robison of Butte, a noted cattle buyer with multiple ranches in the Big Hole basin, arranged and aided the large sale that involved Cardwell interests, hay, and feeding plans.

In Beaverhead County the year 1927 recorded sixty seven oaths with twelve deaths from various causes across months January to December. The month with most fatalities was August and March had two fatalities. Causes included heart disease coronary embolism tuberculosis and accidental deaths such as downing electrocution gunshot and being thrown from a horse.
