MELROSE December 19 Arthur Covey of the Jackrabbit mine is hospitalized in Butte with serious injuries from a Sunday morning accident. He was unloading a water barrel from a truck when it slipped, breaking his thigh and crushing his leg. Melrose sent an ambulance from Butte for transport.
The Montana Supreme Court upheld Beaverhead County court findings in William E. Kenison versus Albert Anderson over a ranch sale contract for 123 156 dollars. The court ruled Anderson was not liable after refusing 50 000 when Dansie took over and later returned the ranch with Kenigon's approval. Frank Blair and wife visited from Grant.
ANLAY PATTERSON Sr former prominent pioneer rancher and hotel owner of Dell died in Miles City after a brief illness. Funeral was in Lima where his remains were interred. He served two terms on Beaverhead county commission and later managed a hotel at Lima. Survived by his widow and son Clay Patterson Jr a Sheep Creek basin rancher.
Beaverhead residents close 1928 with high spirits and gratitude for livestock prosperity. The county anticipates a hopeful 1929, celebrating the year’s progress and the strong local economy.
Beaverhead County recorded ninety one marriages in 1928 an increase of eleven from 1927. May led with fifteen licenses issued by Clerk of the Court Fred Rife June ranked second with thirteen and October with twelve. January counted four February and December three licenses each. Elena December 21 President Al Frank of National Parks Airways says air mail carries 94 percent of scheduled mileage. He compares delays to early rail and pony express, noting air service is in infancy but aims for 100 percent reliability as Montana gains its first organized flying service.
