Big Hole Forest Reservation Created in Beaverhead County

President Roosevelt Proclaims the Big Hole Forest Reservation on November 5, with vast boundaries covering eastern Big Hole Basin to Rock Creek and the Weet Mountains. Ranchers must obtain grazing permits, timber requires permission, and forest rules govern cutting and slash disposal. J B Seely of Sheridan, Montana oversees the reserve.

Katzenjammer Picnic Promises Local Comic Delight

The Dillon Club dramatic department presents The Katzenjammer Picnic a lively show led by Mr Robison as Papa Katzenjammer with Mrs Poindexter Mrs Robison and Miss Jean Bishop in colorful roles. The program features songs dances and many comic bits with Gladya Bingham and Niss Emma Burfiend among performers. Tickets urged and next week’s program publication noted.

Funeral of Joseph C Metlen

The funeral for Joseph C Metlen was held at 1:30 PM last Thursday from the Masonic Temple and drew a large crowd from across the county. A Glendale lodge delegation attended and led the ceremonies with the focal lodge. Rev S D Hooker conducted the service at the hall and the Masonic lodge conducted the burial service with numerous floral tributes from the Glendale lodge, the Dillon lodge, and Metlen hotel employees.

Finances in detail show county debt and valuations

The county's 1906 financial report by Clerk John S. Baker highlights indebtedness, valuations, and expenditures. Total indebtedness December 1 stands at 46,059.55 with updated year-end figures and a strong rise in assessment value to 6,211,951.00.
