W A McCutcheon of Pittsburg, president of the Gilmore and Pittsburg railroad, visited Salmon to discuss right of way details for a line from Armetead to Salmon city. A citizen committee led by N S Andrews, W C Shoup, and W L Malkey will secure the land as far as the Lemhi reservation, with John A Padgham drawing deeds. The company has already secured rights from Cruikshank’s head to Gilmore and hopes to begin grading in spring, aiming to reach Gilmore and Salmon the same season, having spent over $100000 on surveys.

Beaverhead County Board okays contracts and road work
Beaverhead County Commissioners met December 7 1908 in regular session. They approved janitor pay raise to $70 per month and ordered expert inspection of the Redrock river dam near Monida. Bids for the poor farm and county printing were reviewed and contracts awarded to Barnett Walker and Tribune Publishing. Road projects including Ames grade and Hot Springs and Elk Horn Hill roads were accepted as county roads with funding limits set for future work.
