Farm Bureau Hears Butte Experts Here

Men of the Riverside Farm Bureau met at Riverside school to hear reports and discuss projects. Mountain States Telephone reps Richmond and Blaine spoke on equipment supply and a planned June 1951 phone project. Dr Don Shafner discussed livestock diseases with the livestock committee chair Art Christiansen.

J. U. McBride Dies After Long Beaverhead County Life

J. U. McBride 66 longtime Beaverhead County resident died Wednesday night December 13 at Barrett hospital after several days illness. Born October 3 1883 in Hyrum Utah he came west in early 1900s and married Maude Bean in 1929. Survivors include his widow two stepsons Leonard Leake Bonneville Utah Bernard Leake Medicine Lake and brother Leroy McBride Logan Utah. He was a member of the L D S church and Dillon Elks Lodge. L D S services were held at Brundage chapel at 2 p m with Elks grave side rites. interment Mountain View cemetery.

Civil Air Patrol Unit Inspected by Air Force Officer

Major Wittingham of the U S Air Force inspected the Dillon Civil Air Patrol Unit on Tuesday December 12 and found it among the best in the state. He gave cadets a ride in a twin engine Beechcraft, described the CAP exchange program and encampment, offered tips to senior members, and arranged a showing of a latest Air Force aircraft.

Granddaughter of Osbornes Dies in Gym Accident

Gail Taft nine daughter of Alfred W Taft died after a gym backboard fell hitting her head at Cutbank high school. Grandparents Mr and Mrs L S Osborne traveled there. Survived by parents two brothers Keith and Teddy Seidensticker. Funeral held in Cutbank Saturday.

H. M. Brundage announced this week that the Brundage Funeral Chapel received a new Cadillac Superior hearse with a landau style body Moroc co top and two tone interior. It is being checked and serviced at Ben Redd Chevrolet before delivery to the owner.

Beaverettes Plan Fundraiser at December Meeting

The Beaverettes 4-H group met with leader Mrs Norman Downing at Mrs MecNinch home on Wednesday Dec 6 to plan a pie sale fundraiser. Regular meetings shift to the first and third Mondays due to Beaver Lodge center availability. Next meeting set for Verona Nettik's home.

Home From Hospital for Mr and Mrs Funk

Mr and Mrs Robert M Funk of Sheridan were released from St James hospital and are at the home of their son in law and daughter Dr and Mrs W J Romers. Mrs Funk broke a hip in November after a fall at home and Mr Funk was seriously ill for over a month. Mrs Conklin R N accompanied them to Dillon and then returned to her home in Butte Sunday.

Beaverhead Chamber Names Five New Directors

Beaverhead Chamber of Commerce completed balloting for five new directors this week. The five elected are Edgar Williams of Williams Feed and Machinery Co., Dr L L Lindley, Laptemetrer Ben Redd of Ben Redd Chevrolet, Dan Henneberry of the Examiner Printing Co, and Carl Robison of B A Risley Accounting. An inaugural meeting is set for January 8, 1951, at the chamber office to elect officers.

Dillon voters face Dec 28 water and sewer plan vote

The city seeks a $150,000 revenue bond to fund water and sewer enhancements to boost growth and fire protection. Current capacity falls short of needs for a 5,000 population, with a planned trunk-line system and a sewer backbone estimated at $110,000. Officials say the project targets long term reliability and health, asking residents to vote December 28.

Western Montana college will close for the fall quarter and reopen January 2 for the winter quarter. Dillon public schools close for holiday vacation tomorrow afternoon and resume January 3. Beaverhead county high school starts 8 am Friday and closes at noon for Christmas vacation, with classes resuming Tuesday.

Deputy Warden Begins Navy Service During Transition

Frank Dunkle deputy game warden of Dillon sailed for the navy last Friday. He succeeds Charles Price who retired in August as Beaverhead deputy warden. Orville Lewis warden from Lima will serve temporarily in Dunkle’s stead.
