New Ordinance Passed To Control Wiring

The Dillon city council approved a wiring inspection ordinance requiring permits and bonds for all electrical work in Beaverhead County. City electrician George Fleming will supervise inspections. Elza Patrick oversees street and water. A separate vote allowed a temporary Civil Aeronautics Authority building at Helena and Idaho for radio frequency experiments.

Vernon Taylor resumes duties at Normal College after army service. he tests students voices and records their voices for study in music speech and drama. He develops Campus Chatter records each week and releases them Fridays. Private violin lessons begin February 1 in the second semester.

Epidemic of flu sweeps over Dillon

An outbreak of colds and flu swept Dillon and Beaverhead county schools with many absences across the high school and public schools. Chicken pox added to the tally. School events postponed, including the high school music concert and Girls club formal, with reopenings planned by week’s end. Adults also affected, though cases are not serious and recoveries occur in days.

Beavers Open 1945-46 Season With Big Win Over Diamondbacks

Beaverhead County Beavers beat a hard-fighting Drum Mond team 47 to 25 in the home opener. Chuck Davis scored 33 points, demonstrating his shooting eye as the Beavers built a 26-14 halftime lead and expanded it in the second half under Coach Clancy Johnson. Officials were Vandegrift and Green of Dillon.

Genevieve Albertson to Present Book Review in Lima

Miss Genevieve Albertson of Montana State Normal College at Dillon will present the second in a series of book reviews Thursday evening December 20 at 8 p.m. in the Lima gym. The Normal college announces its annual Christmas dinner and party for Friday evening, Dec. 14. Attendees bring a gift costing at most thirty five cents to be distributed by Santa Claus. Vet Leader Speaker at Club Dinner

B L McFarren training officer of the veterans administration Fort Harrison was the principal speaker at Dillon Rotary Club Monday night. He discussed Public Law 16 for rehabilitating disabled veterans and Public Law 346 GI law. Apprenticeships are now offered by several Dillon firms partially funded by the veterans bureau. Trainees receive support similar to students in college or high school. The talk addressed questions from men considering employer roles. Dr I W Winsel was announced as a new club member.

Dillon to Host Southwestern Montana Divisional Cage Meet

Dillon will host the Southwestern Montana divisional Class B basketball tournament March 6 7 and 8. Eight district winners and runners-up compete in a single elimination event at Montana State Normal College gym with other sites in Plentywood Hardin and Shelby. The state tournament follows March 21 23 in Bozeman and Ennis hosts the District 16 meet February 21 23.

Dillon plans a festive Christmas season with the first post war light display. City workers installed lights under Elza Patrick supervision and the chamber funded trees from the Future Farmers chapter. A window contest by the Chamber of Commerce and a home decorating contest by the Elks offer cash prizes. Stores glow with decorations as shoppers report brisk early Christmas shopping and improving stock.

Beaverhead and Madison residents formed a two county Reclamation association after a luncheon for Governor Ford. Lester Schulz and George Reyner named to Madison county executive committee. S. E. Addresses of service men sought in Dillon drive

Students under Miss Evelyn Mikkelson will canvass Dillon to collect addresses of service personnel, active or discharged. Ambrose Henneberry, chairman of the local Citizens' committee, promotes ticket sales for the service men's home-coming dance at city hall auditorium on December 22 with free admission for all service members.

Geo Taylor Claimed in Missoula Funeral Rites

George Taylor a former Dillon resident died last night at St Patrick s hospital in Missoula after months of illness. He lived in Stevensville for years and worked at Beaverhead Motors garage in Dillon. He leaves a wife and daughter in Stevensville and mother in law Mrs Mary Judge. Mrs Bertha Battle, related to Beaverhead valley rancher George Battle, died in Sheridan last week. Funeral services for Mrs Battle were held at Laurin s Catholic church with many Dillon mourners present.
