Veronica Hartwig of 421 East Sebree Street marked her 90th birthday on December 4 at home. Born in 1860 near Lake Constance in Wuerttenberg Germany she immigrated to the United States in 1884 and later settled on a Reichle ranch. She and her late husband raised a family including daughter Anna Jellison of Boise and sons Carl and Fritz. Now active at ninety she keeps house for Fritz amid widespread community appreciation.

Early Basin Man C W Bryant Dies in Twin Bridges
Charles W. Bryant 80 a resident of Twin Bridges for 20 years died Monday at his daughter's home in Whitehall. Born 1870 in Lowell Michigan he moved to Jackson Montana in 1895 and married Hannah Jackson in 1898. He later served six years as Madison Valley county commissioner. Funeral services were held today at the Twin Bridges Community Church with Rev. George Reid officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery Dillon.

American Legion auxiliary to Beaverhead post No 20 held a Christmas party at Mrs. P. J. Lovell's home to assemble gifts mailed Tuesday to the Veterans hospital at Fort Harrison. The unit runs a Gift Shoppe from which hospitalized veterans select gifts for their families. A $10 cash contribution was sent by the unit and other auxiliaries to support the program.

Alfred I. Cashmore, 76, died Saturday evening December 2 after a long illness. Born December 15, 1876 in Evanston Wyoming, he moved to Dillon as a child and spent most of his life in the grocery business. He served in the Spanish American War and was active in local church and Elks, survived by Grace M. Adams, a son Alden, daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, and several nephews. Bulldogs Win Three At Four Team Tourney
Western Montana College of Education opened the 1950-51 basketball season with three wins in a four team tourney. The Bulldogs defeated Carroll 93 82 and Mines 84 48 while also beating Northern 52 50 and finished with three straight wins. Supervisor E. H. England says the 1951 legislature should raise uniformed patrol pay to match other states and expand the force to meet National Safety council recommendations.
