Secretary of Agriculture announces a cooperative agreement to safeguard water supplies drawn from streams in national forest basins. The plan requires towns to fund enhanced guards and sanitary measures while the government extends forest improvements and enforces erosion controls to keep water clean.
The Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul Railway introduces white counterpanel bedspreads on Southwest Limited trains between Chicago and Kansas City replacing woolen blankets. Blankets will be kept in reserve within reach for cool nights. The change aims to improve comfort for sleeping car patrons and attract travelers who prefer a inviting bed.
