Fire Leaves Family Homeless in Sheep Creek Basin

A severe mid-winter fire destroyed Mr. Stewart’s home in the Sheep Creek basin while his wife and two young children escaped with injuries. Neighbors aided, efforts focused on saving lives. the family’s winter supplies and goods were lost. Mrs. Stewart remains unable to speak as her throat is badly burned, but both she and the smaller child are recovering.

Luncheon Honors Mrs. Edwin L. Norris Before Helena Train

Mrs George W French hosted a luncheon in the county high school dining room to honor Mrs Edwin L Norris who departed this afternoon by train to Helena. Fourteen covers were set by Miss Osborne and local domestic science students with a four course menu. Mrs Norris was escorted to the train after the meal by the hostess and attending ladies.

Domestic Science Class Forming at High School

A six week domestic science course will start Wednesday December 9 at 3 30 if at least ten students enroll. Classes meet Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 30 to 4 30 in the high school domestic science rooms taught by Miss Belle Osborn. A $4 fee is due in advance. Inquiries to Miss Osborn or Principal Boote.

Pulver Convicted In Notorious Dillon Hold Up

A verdict of guilty and a sentence of two years and six months in the penitentiary were imposed on Amery Pulver after a trial that spanned Friday to Saturday. Cahill testified Pulver helped rob him near the Silver Dollar and Elk saloons on the night of March 3 4 in Dillon. witnesses described the assault, gunfire, and aftermath as Pulver was captured and treated for a gunshot wound.

Dillon band and orchestra plan benefit concert at Dillon theatre

The Dillon brasa band and the Dillon concert orchestra directed by W W Wilson prepare a Thursday eve concert to fund music purchases. A post concert dance will run 10 to 12. The program features W W Wilson and local players with a full orchestra and a varied score. Proceeds will support both music groups.

Cattle shipped to Big Hole for spring market

Nearly 1,000 head of cattle were sent to the Big Hole basin from Lewistown to be fattened for the spring market. Balea and Jones of Lewistown own the feedery and have leased a basin ranch to winter about 4,000 head for the coast market. Cattle arrive from Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington, fatten on wild grass hay irrigated through the growing season, and then are shipped back as beef.
