Carter leaves Dillon for Seattle after transacting business

Fred Carter, who has been handling business matters in Dillon for several weeks, departed for his Seattle home Sunday morning. Mrs. Carter plans to stay with relatives in Dillon for two more weeks.

Bandit Arraigned Again as Bond Raised to 17500

The Dillon bandit, Edward Smith, appeared before Judge Poindexter facing four charges including burglary robbery arson and assault. Bond set at 17500 with a 17000 amount needed to post. plea entered by next Tuesday morning. Forest visitors from Beaverhead and Sheep Creek prompted local tension as elk and deer crossed Lima rail yards without incident.

Miles Quartette Draws Big Audiences at Scenic Theater

E L West seriously injured in ranch horse accident

E L West employed at the John F Bishop ranch north of Dillon was injured when his horse stumbled into a badger hole and fell on him. The accident caused bladder rupture and internal injuries. he was taken to St James hospital and is reported to be improving.

Pioneer Eunice Selway Dies After Long Faithful Life

Funeral services were held at the Dillon Methodist Church for Mrs. Eunice Selway born 1847 in Iowa. She taught school fifteen terms before moving to Montana in 1873 and BeaVerhead County in 1874 where she married James Selway. Survived by three sisters and a brother, her life reflected Christian service through the Methodist Church, Ladies Aid, and W C T U. Interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery.

Beaverhead County high school starts its seventh year on Tuesday September 6 with a nine o clock assembly and a special program. Registration follows at noon with enrollment and class assignments at 1 30. Delinquent student exams are to be held and many new teachers have already arrived. Enrollment is expected to exceed recent years aided by out of Dillon attendance and a new short agricultural course welcomed by older students.
