Death of Pioneer Thomas M. Selway at South Washington
Thomas M. Selway a prominent pioneer rancher and longtime alderman died at his home on South Washington after a several week illness, acute enteritis his immediate cause. Born in England he migrated to Wisconsin and then Beaverhead valley where he became a successful stockraiser and civic leader. Survived by widow Alice A. Kox and five children Bert Mark Mrs Jessie Smith George D and Raymond. Funeral plans not yet announced.

The class service offered spiritual guidance, and a grand evening gathering featured a strong annual report showing progress and nearly $3,000 spent on church work. He came to Montana as a pioneer, built a large ranch near Dillon, and helped plat Mauldin addition. Funeral Friday at 3 from Idaho Street home, Rev. Dr. Martin presiding. interment Mountain View cemetery. He was born September 3, 1843 in Cecil County Maryland and married Nancy Featherly in 1877 in Ogden Utah.

The couple plan to visit relatives then tour Yellowstone National Park before settling in Honolulu this moat.

In Twin Bridges on Aug 20 a replevin suit by the State Bank of Dillon against O J Pfoutz over about 300 dollars tied to Floyd Burtch ended in a verdict for Pfoutz. Burtch, once local, fled with another man’s wife six weeks earlier and is reportedly in British Columbia. Burtch secured the debt with horse and cattle sales then mortgaged the stock to the Dillon bank. the sale bill allegedly was not recorded at the county clerk’s office. Attorneys George R Allen for the plaintiff and M M Duncan for the defendant were present.

Early Morning Fire Destroys Part Of Poindexter Home
A fire at Mrs. T. W. Poindexter’s residence on South Pacific Street started in an unoccupied upper bedroom from an iron left plugged in. Miss Jessie Poindexter woke to dense smoke, alerted the household, and the fire was quickly controlled by the fire department with help from neighbors. Furniture and household effects suffered substantial damage.
