Commissioners Oppose Plan to Divert County Funds to Forest Roads
Beavershead County officials oppose grazing and fund changes that would divert road fund money to National Forest projects. They warn annual loss of about 4000 to the county’s road program would harm farm to market roads and mining transport. The commission instructed the clerk to inform the Mining Association of Montana and the Montana Association of County Commissioners of their objections during the Aug 4 1943 meeting.

First Recreation School a Summer Success in Dillon
The first Dillon recreation school closed its summer with active plays and a radio skit. Beginners' piano lessons were offered by Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Sargent, and Mrs. Waldorf, while Spanish classes were led by Mrs. Luebben with Miss Bishop and Miss Camp teaching separate groups. About 14 children gathered weekly for library storytelling, and 50 girls enjoyed twice weekly free swimming thanks to the Girl Scout council. The playground equipment from the children's park was set up on school grounds pending a park site decision. Supt Moe praised the program and thanked supporters including the Gargoyle club of the Normal College which financed part of the effort. Nancy Barrett spent vacation at Elkhorn.
