Dillon Loses On The Road Hard Luck For Dillon Ball Team

Dillon suffered a rough Eastern Montana trip with only one win in five games. Four players pulled out late, patchwork lineups, and poor crowd support at Livingston hurt finances. The team beat Helena 3 to 1, then lost to Helena 5 to 4, before a big August 28 rematch in Butte with the year’s top fielding squad.

Two Delightful Card Parties At Mrs Orrs Home

Four Counties to Hold Offical Teachers Institute in Butte

Superintendent Margaret Horgan arranged a large scale teachers institute to be held in Butte from September 6 for four days. Four counties Silver Bow Jefferson Deer Lodge and Beaverhead join under Silver Bow supervision with Dr M D O Shea University of Wisconsin as lead instructor lecturing psychology. If successful more counties may join future years to broaden lectures and instructors.

Joint institute to bring teachers to Butte after summer break

The plan is to hold a joint institute to allow teachers from neighboring counties to travel to Butte for institute week following their summer vacations. Organizers aim to ensure the event is enjoyable and profitable for visiting educators according to Miner.

Death by own action shocks Dillon community

Word from Dillon last week reports Adolph Butler a well known sheep herder for Henry Thompson died by his own hand in a mountain camp about 20 miles from Lima. Al Etsle found Butler with a revolver in his hand and a self inflicted fatal wound. Butler, once committed to an insane asylum, had apparently recovered. His body was sent to Utah for interment. Police concluded there was no murder after investigation.

Dr. John Kolmer of Indianapolis plans to send two royal stallions Gene Dillon and Rexford to Charles Smith near Dillon Montana. J M Murphy accuses Sam A Hall real estate man of grand larceny over a mortgage on Mrs Mary Dunlap’s property near the cemetery. Murphy bought the mortgage after Dunlap paid principal and Hall released it a year ago but allegedly did not account. Hall’s office was attached and closed after Murphy’s action.
