Buffalo hunt aids Boys State barbecue fundraiser
Charles Price Herman Peter son Boyd Quick and S E Johnson brought a fine two year old buffalo bull from the Peterson spread after a three day scouting and a Friday hunt. The Chamber of Commerce plans to donate the bull to the annual Boys State barbecue and requests Beaverhead county residents donate transportation for trips to Virginia City this Sunday August 20. Buses are offered from several towns and 85 passenger cars are needed. Call the Chamber office at 411 with details.

Beaverhead county officials seek Tom Walton a 50 year old ranch cook linked to forgery and questioned about a jewel robbery. He fled in a 1936 Ford coupe then allegedly stole a black 1947 Buick from Silver Bow County surveyor Jack Healy. the Buick was found abandoned in Missoula as authorities pursue Walton with sheriff and FBI agents.

Roy Herndon passes away in Dillon at 73
Roy B. Herndon 73 died Friday at Barrett Hospital after years of ill health. Born March 11 1877 near Lebanon Missouri he lived in Salmon Idaho before moving to Dillon 28 years ago. He served as Lemhi county Idaho assessor postmaster of Salmon and state legislator before settling in Dillon where he worked in a grocery and became deputy clerk of the district court. He is survived by his wife Edith Scott Decker two daughters in law and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Grace Memorial Methodist Church with graveside rites by Dillon Lodge AF and AM. Pallbearers named. (Continued on page 6)

Dillon Rifle club members Henry Hignight and Otto Sassman earned multiple bronze medals at the Vigilante Small Bore Tournament in Twin Bridges. Hignight won three expert class firsts and a total score bronze. Sassman took first in the first match and was high expert overall.
