Charles Henry is to address the college graduation exercises at the college auditorium next Wednesday morning. The ceremony will honor graduates and mark the academic year's close with Henry delivering the principal address before faculty and guests.

A 12-year-old Dillon boy slipped toward a deep riverbank while chasing a gopher near a highway bridge north of Ion. Oberem nearby leaped in to save the boy, pulling him to shore after a swift current struggle.

Summer School Ends as Montana Normal College Holds Graduation

Montana State Normal college sophomores will receive two year diplomas at the summer quarter commencement next Wednesday in the college auditorium. Charles Henry to speak, continuing the tradition of a faculty member delivering the address. Commencement begins with Sunday baccalaureate services and graduates dinner. term ends August 12.

The Montana Woolgrowers Association will postpone its usual ram sales due to early Montana State Fair dates. The first auction will be in Billings on September 8, with a second sale in Great Falls between October 10 and 15. A man identified as Donald Bayerd died Friday at Lovell's Lake after a heart attack during a suspected attempted swim across the lake. Rescue crews found him unresponsive and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dillon Gun Club Shooters Shine at Utah State Meet

Dillon's crack gunners attended the Utah state shoot in Salt Lake City with E. W. Renfro of Dell topping the field. Roy Forrester won the 16 yard event with 124x125 while W. E. Tallent placed runner up in handicap. Other members include Ross Emerick B G Free Vic and Pete Wargaard and Otto Schulz. Forrester recently received a trophy from the A T A for winning Montana state singles and ranks high nationally.

Henry Cahill Dies After Long Illness in Dillon

Henry Cahill longtime Dillon resident and former Madison County rancher died after a long illness at Warm Springs last Thursday night. He was 67, born in Virginia City, and lived in Ruby Valley ranching with his family before retiring in 1919 to Dillon. Funeral services were held Monday at St. Rose Catholic Church with interment in Mountain View Cemetery. Surviving are his widow and four sisters Mrs Mary Carey Sheridan and Mrs Elizabeth Stone Mrs Kate McDonald and Mrs Charles Metzel Alder.

Paul Temple Named Deputy Sheriff by Orr in Dillon

Paul Temple of Dillon is appointed deputy sheriff by Sheriff W C Orr, taking effect immediately. He succeeds W E Barry, now undersheriff, and will be stationed in the Dillon office. Temple has been a Dillon resident for years and led the community relief headquarters last spring.
