Dry Land Farms Make Fine Showing Near Dillon

A visit to dry farms east of Dillon reveals grain fields rivaling irrigated lands and a standout producer Dr F H Bimrose. His six mile east ranch yields 25 to 30 bushels per acre from two wheat varieties and strong oat yields, with eight to ten acres of potatoes likely to net a neat sum amid high tuber prices. Potatoes trade at 60 cents a peck locally with wider markets showing up to 50 cents for 15 pounds, while Minnesota and Montana markets vary. The outlook hints at price pressure if supplies run short before new potatoes arrive.
