Easter of 15.43 Recalls Another Easter in 1863
The Dillon fire department fought fires on two ranches near Dillon. A Monday night blaze at the Stimpson ranch four miles south destroyed two barns a garage and two automobiles with one horse killed and twelve harness sets lost. Fire damaged a cook house at the Cornell ranch but was contained.

Child Jean Bacon Drowns in Little Creek Near Fishtrap
Jean Elizabeth Bacon three years old daughter of Mr and Mrs Herbert J Bacon lost her life Sunday afternoon April 18 in the swift waters of Little creek near the family home in Fishtrap Montana. A four hour search by family and neighbors recovered her within a quarter mile of the ranch. She is survived by her parents a sister Mary two grandfathers Weldon Else and Frank Bacon and many relatives. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Wisdom church and the body interred in Wisdom cemetery.

Wagon Train Reaches East Bannack Idaho in 1863
On April 20 1863 a wagon train amid 300 men and families with 30 women and several children arrived in East Bannack Idaho Territory bringing supplies and news. The community had spent winter 1862 63 in a gold camp after Idaho Territory was created the prior month and East Bannack later became just Bannack. The caravan had gathered at Fort Bridger in March.

Hunting Season Opens Last Sunday In Beaverhead County
Beaverhead County opened its hunting season last Sunday with no state fish and game commission involvement. Four local hunters led by Jack Keenan of Dillon and Bill Sweet of Butte returned with over 30 rattlesnakes from Hogback northeast of Dillon, a notable but modest catch given seasonal expectations. The Hogback and Frying Pan basin remain favored spots, where rattlers persist in limited numbers.

Concert Night To Boost Beaverhead Sports Drive
A county campaign to collect used sports gear for armed forces aids fundraising with a high school band concert directed by Fred Honeychurch tomorrow night. State Official Speaks at Educators Meeting in Beaverhead
Martin P. Moe executive secretary of the Montana Education Association explained last session’s education measures at a Beaverhead unit dinner at the Lutheran church. He noted changes to the teacher retirement fund budgets and school lands and discussed national education legislation. Moe, also Montana governor of Kiwanis International, said nine to ten million students nationwide are being trained for war industry. Ottilie Brauer presided.
