First hole in one at Dillon Country Club

Robert Clark, Normal College professor, scored the first hole in one on Dillon Country Club’s number six par three last Saturday morning. He drove 135 yards to sink the ball on the first stroke with Lee R. Light as witness. The following day Tom Gilbert narrowly missed a similar honor when his drive hit a cup obstruction and bounced out.

Beaverhead board invites bids for livestock pavilion

Beaverhead County Commissioners in Dillon hold a special session with the Beaverhead Fair Association to discuss a stock pavilion at the Fair Grounds. They consider a 100 by 60 foot structure to ease financial strain, with future plans for a 100 by 100 foot pavilion under review.

Funeral services for Miss Fanny Cahill held in Dillon

Funeral services for the late Miss Fanny Cahill a Dillon resident who died at her home after a five week illness were held Friday morning at St Roge Catholic church with Rev Father FX Lecliner officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery. Numerous out of town relatives and friends attended from Madison county Alder Sheridan Virginia City Butte and other nearby towns.

Death of BeaVerhead stockman Pierce in Butte hospital

Thomas R. Pierce a leading Beaverhead County stockman and rancher died at Murray hospital Butte after a brief illness. He left Dillon with his wife for treatment in Rochester but grew worse in Butte and underwent surgery Tuesday. He rallied briefly before relapsing Wednesday night and dying Thursday at 11 46. The body returned to Dillon that night as hundreds mourn his loss. Pierce was a prominent rancher and son of an early Beaverhead pioneer.

Two Longtime Grant Resident Andrew Anderson Dies

Andrew Alfred Anderson, a long time Grant resident and former livery stable operator, died at Barrett Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Denmark 46 years ago and lived in Grant 26 years, later managing a local garage. Funeral services were held yesterday at Brundage Chapel with Rev. H B Ricketts officiating. interment in Mountain View cemetery. He had no surviving relatives in Grant.

Ten entries for the state hand ball tournament have been received by Morris B Sanford at the Helena Y M C A with more expected before entries close. Helena Company Buys Waco Plane For Flying School

Helena Airways plans a flying school and paid for a Waco plane to be delivered next week. The Montana Airways of Dillon sold the plane. Fred Woodside is president of Montana Airways. The Helena plane will carry two passengers plus pilot and be used for instruction and sightseeing. A. W. Stephenson will supervise. Dillon Isler will pilot mail routes from Great Falls to Salt Lake starting in June. Scott Leavitt enters race for Congress in Montana

Representative Scott Leavitt of Montana filed with the secretary of state his petition for the Republican nomination to succeed himself in the July primaries. The petition dated in Washington, D C, April 11 asks that the slogan For the greatest good to the greatest number be placed opposite his name on the ticket. Leavitt, from Great Falls, represents the second district which includes 39 counties. He was elected to the sixty eighth Congress and then re elected to the next term.

Question of Daylight Saving Time In Dillon To Be Decided

The Dillon Rotary Club public relations committee will interview local business leaders and citizens to decide on adopting daylight saving time for summer months. The report is due at next week's meeting, with many residents in favor though some oppose the time shift ahead of the usual hour.
