In early Beaverhead Montana Nat Woods ranches near Dillon and Louey the Breed roams among miners and cowboys. Louey turns thief, is hunted by a vigilance committee, hangs under a tree four times, is banished, then later caught with stolen horses and hanged. A pair of cows hid in an ice house explain their disappearance and false accusation.
