Second Boy Scout Receives Eagle Rank in Dillon Troop

ISBUR GILBERT JR of Troop 14 was recommended for Eagle Scout by the board of review, making him the second in Dillon to reach the rank within weeks. Fielding Graves earned Eagle last month. The board also recommended Life Scout for Waldron Roger and Bobby Erwin, both of Troop 14, and Star Scout for Melbourne Jackson of Troop 14 and James Kelly Kenneth Barry and James McCulley of Troop 42. All awards will be presented at a later court of honor with state scout leaders expected.

Bobcat Band to Perform in Dillon Saturday Night

The Bobcat band from Montana State College Bozeman will play at the Montana State Normal college auditorium Saturday night as part of its twenty first annual state tour. Dillon residents recall Louis L. Howard former local musician and band member directs the ensemble. The program features Overture Haut Monde March Senn Triumphal and more.

Dillon Man Severely Injured in Highway Crash

C. F. Miles of Dillon was seriously injured when his car plunged from a state highway near Glen this morning. He was rushed to Barrett hospital and remained unconscious this afternoon. Miles had departed Dillon early for a drive north on the state highway.

Gov Frank A Hazelbaker president of the senate and Beaverhead county's first license holder is No 49 in the Montana Sportsman's license program. Course in Girl Scouting Taught at College by Olga Carlson

Miss Olga Carlson national field trainer for Girl Scouts leads a course in Girl Scouting at the Normal College this week. It opened Monday with strong enrollment and runs daily 4 to 6 pm through next Saturday. Miss Carlson spoke at the college assembly yesterday morning. Sheep Men Of County Meet Here

Eighteen sheepmen from Eaverhead gathered at the courthouse yesterday afternoon to hear the Eat More Lamb campaign explained and show support with generous payments. About 60 attended and many signed up for the fall quota totaling commitments for the drive led by Max Legge of the Montana Wool Growers Association.

Legion convention set for Big Hole in June

The American Legion and auxiliary will hold their district meeting in Big Hole June. The Wisdom post reported 100 percent district membership and 76 percent attendance at the convention in Butte, with officers to be elected in June. Beaverhead and Dillon posts were represented by several officers and auxiliary members at the Saturday gathering.

Girl Scout benefit show delights audience at training school

The third annual event at the training school auditorium drew a large audience as Gregory's string orchestra performed and a Normal college group led by Miss Mira Booth sang. Claudia Faust School of Dancing presented "Jama Time" with Dolores among the performers. James H. Rowe, state highway commissioner, ordered Wouegner and company to resume work on the Butte Dillon road project at once to meet specifications after complaints.

William Herman a long time Beaverhead County resident died at his ranch home north of Dillon after a brief illness. He was stricken Saturday afternoon and died Sunday morning. The funeral was held yesterday from St Rose Catholic Church.

Elks Install Officers At Dillon Session

Dillon lodge 1564 BPOE installed its officers for the year after a regular session, followed by a banquet at St James guild hall. Out of town visitors included R W Jones Pocatello and District Deputy C M Holbert Virginia City with an entertainment program by local and visiting performers.
