Special Meet Joint Conference Fair Board and Commissioners Held

Beaverhead County Montana officials convened a regular session on April 2 1928 with Commissioners Anderson Gosman Shaw and Acting Clerk Baker present. The board approved March county work and authorized each commissioner to conduct district inspections. Sunrise meetings at Methodist and Presbyterian Churches announced for Sunday morning.

Montana Gypsum Products to Develop Beaverhead Deposits

The Montana Gypsum Products Co filed articles of incorporation with a 260000 capital stock to mine process and market gypsum and by products. Led by Dr L C Ford and partners from Lima Butte the firm owns a large Lima gypsum deposit with at least 250000 tons visible and potentially 1000000 tons to be developed. Initial plan includes a 100 ton daily plant rising to 500 tons and producing wall plaster plaster of Paris gypsum board partition tile and tile material.

Election of Trustees Is Saturday

H. M. Brundage and J. H. Gilbert were nominated by acclamation to seek re election to three year terms on the Dillon public school board of Trustees No. 10. Approximately forty voters attended the caucus at the city hall auditorium with J. E. Monroe as chairman and George Baker as clerk. The election will be held next Saturday at the training school.

Free baby clinic at Barrett hospital Friday

County nurse Bertha Lamberton and a local physician will attend the free clinic at Barrett hospital on Friday April 6 at 2 30 p m. Mothers are urged to bring pre school age children for physical examination.

Officials rule on who may vote in Saturday election for district Nox 9 and whos na 5. voters within district boundaries may cast ballots. Polls open Saturday under guidance to ensure proper eligibility and turnout.

Senior girl chosen Miss Beaverhead at Hi Jinx carnival

Dorothy Stewart was elected queen of the Hi Jinx carnival at Beaverhead County High School. Her coronation as Miss Beaverhead capped a very successful fete held at the school gym Friday and Saturday nights.

City Aldermen Seats Split In Dillon Election

In Dillon's Monday election four Citizens party aldermen were elected, with John T. Orr winning the fourth ward by six votes for the People’s party. George M. Gosman led all winners, defeating W. F. Cashmore by 28 votes in the first ward. Voter turnout reached 519 ballots from a 1,197 registration, the largest in the city’s aldermanic history.

Pups McFadden Pupils to Forthcoming Pianoforte Recital

Seventeen pupils from the beginning and intermediate classes of Ralph McFadden will present a pianoforte recital for one and two pianos at the Normal College auditorium tomorrow night. The concert, under the Normal College department of music, features instructor Mr. McFadden and takes place at 8 15. The participants include Alice Peterson Juddie Best Jean Gilbert Jane Waldorf Jack Gilbert Billie Baxter and several others.

Dillon Voters Back Administration Despite New Party Push

Voters reaffirmed confidence in the current city administration amid a challenge from a new political combine. Three of four Citizens' party candidates won, while the sole victor under the People's party colors did so reluctantly. Citizens who understood the true motives praised the outcome and tax relief aims.

Easter Music Planned by Dillon Churches

Dillon churches prepare an Easter program next Sunday with five congregations taking part. The Methodist and Presbyterian churches schedule sunrise services, Sunday school at 9 45 and 10, morning worship at 11, and an afternoon or evening service. The Montana state board of education approved the 1928 budget totaling 988,999 for the Greater University. The allocation includes State University 858,700 State College 206,625 School of Mines 48,500 Normal College 86,175 Eastern Montana Normal 70,000 and various stations and services. Treasure State Lamb Crop Forecast For 1928 Reaches Two Million

Montana industry observers expect 2 000 000 spring lambs this season with less than ten percent contracted. Prices vary from 10 to 11 1/2 cents a pound for lambs and yearling ewes bring about 14 dollars each delivery set around September first. Former Dillon Dentist Dies Sudden in Butte

Dr. Charles M. Eddy, longtime dental practitioner in Butte, was found unconscious in his office in the Thomas block on West Park street. The death appears sudden and is being investigated. details continue on page 6.

Johnny Mallon Becomes Dillon Country Club Pro

Johnny Mallon, a noted Butte golfer, assumed duties as professional for the Dillon Country Club last Sunday and will coach and manage the course this season. He will begin lessons now, living at the Country Inn and available after 12:30 each day. The club board meets next Monday to elect a new member and handle business.

Eva Collett Dies at Mint Rooming House in Dillon

Miss Eva Collett proprietress of the Mint rooming house on Bannack Street died Thursday morning after a brief illness from ure mia. Her remains were sent to Denver for funeral and interment. Born in Webb City Missouri thirty three years ago she lived in Dillon four years returning recently from Denver and California. She is survived by her mother and sister Mrs Betty Meredith of Denver.

Renfro fires near perfect 98 in Sheridan trapshoot

Ted Renfro of Dell dominates Montana trapshooters at Sheridan on April 2 with a 98 of 100 in the registered event. W R Wilcoxson of Great Falls, John Robinson of Anaconda, and Otto Schulz of Sheridan tied for second with 98. Robinson captured the doubles title with a perfect score.
