Fraud claim raised over Turtle Mountain homesteads
A Washington dispatch reports J B Bottineau and his uncle Charles Bottineau of Turtle Mountain North Dakota allege fraud by white neighbors. They say full bloods and half-breeds were induced to file homestead entries outside the reservation and later transfers were bought for little money. The tribe contracted a local attorney to protect its interests before the interior department and seeks proof of that contract.

Wreck at Arvilla Destroys Stock Train Cars
A severe Saturday wreck at Arvilla left twenty two stock cars piled in a ditch and many animals killed or maimed. The west bound freight engine broke near Arvilla and the stock train attempted to pass on a side track, triggering the derailment. Rescue crews work through the afternoon as workers describe the scene as sickening and heartbreaking with injured animals crying out in pain. One hobo survived the crash while another is missing and feared buried in the wreckage.
