The XIX Century Club met with Mrs. E. S. Grant hosting and a program including piano pieces and readings. Members discussed the proposition and decided to reject Smiths offer while finances showed the club prosperous and a large attendance attended.
The Flax Fibre Mill Moves or Fails in Devils Lake
Devils Lake club elected I. N. Walker M. H. Brennan R. Proudfoot and Peter Haley to membership after a meeting on Tuesday evening. J. T. Smith of Heron Lake Minn proposed moving his flax fibre mill here in exchange for 10000 in stock four thousand cash and six thousand in flax straw but the offer was rejected as too vague and indefinite. Smith promised to send references and incorporators if the proposition was accepted. He sought five acres of land deeded to his company free city water for 20 years and installation of facilities in his plant.
