Fatal wreck on Great Northern near Penn causes multiple deaths
A rear end collision on the Great Northern near Penn, fifteen miles west of Devils Lake, at 3:40 am Saturday killed engineer George Conne and firemen William Gill and Clayton Saunders. Fireman L. Bissell was seriously injured. The wreck sparked a blaze and damaged cars with canned salmon aboard. Saunders’s family and Conne’s wife and children are noted, while fog and lack of caboose signals are blamed.
