Smith to hang for Hyinger murder in Washburn court
James Smith was sentenced by Judge Winchester in Washburn to be hanged February 20 for the murder of Anton Hyinger last spring. Forty Locomotives for Chicago Great Western
The Chicago Great Western orders twenty passenger and twenty freight locomotives from the Brooks branch of the American locomotive works Dunkirk New York. Delivery is set for January and February. Total locomotives on roster will reach 12 with the new units, compared to 211 a year ago. Passenger engines are Lake Shore type piston valve wide firebox with ten wheels and 68 inch drivers. Freight engines are Prairie type Brooks tandem. Engines will feature Pyle national electric headlights and cost 16000 to 18000 dollars each.
