Government orders shut saloons in southern Minnesota region
Special Agent Henry A. Larson of the Indian Department announced an order affecting about 200 saloons in fifty nine towns within the Chippewa treaty of 1855 area must close by November 30. Liquor stores selling liquor face the same restriction. The move, tied to the Supreme Court regent decision upholding treaty prohibitions, was delivered to saloon operators by Larson and deputies during a district tour. Some outlets outside Bemidji were warned today. others will receive notice.

The November crop report from the Bureau of Crop Estimates outlines higher North Dakota outputs and prices this year.
