The Grand Forks Evening Times reports Governor Burke reelected by about 1,600 votes with other papers estimating larger margins. Inter Ocean tally shows Fisk and Burke leading for supreme judge while Anderson trails. Republicans dominate statewide though Burke’s Ramsey county margin shrank.
Ramsey county officials for the next two years will all be Republicans after Tuesday’s election. Sheriff John McLean heads a ticket that included County Auditor R. V. Rice and Treasurer Gus Furstenau with other offices won by GOP candidates. Key races for State’s Attorney and County Judge narrowed to close contests, while W. Belford led the House race in the district.
Preliminary North Dakota results show William M. Anderson among three contenders for supreme judge. In Minot he placed second behind Goss with Burke third, while Ramsey County tallies list Anderson at 1,665 votes, Fisk 1,158, and Cooley 710 as Goss leads.
The city backed Republicans as in the county with Governor Burke and W H Belford the only Democrats winning honors. Burke carried the city by 122 votes, 54 fewer than two years ago. Hanna led Casey for Congress by 72, while Helgesen narrowly surpassed Hanna in the city. Republicans led city totals for major offices, with large majorities amplifying the trend.
Incomplete returns show increased jurisdiction losing county by about 200 votes. Four precincts failed to report but could not overturn the defeat of the Increased jurisdiction proposition.
