A 16 year old, Joe Stamen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stamen, died after a knife slipped while skinning an animal at the Samen ranch thirteen miles north of Carpio. He bled from a severed femoral artery, lost consciousness, and died at 2:00 p.m. despite medical aid from Carpio. Funeral services were held at Stamen residence and St. Henry's Catholic church.
