Devils Lake City Council Hears Water Works Talks
The Devils Lake council met Monday with Mayor Brown and aldermen discussing warrants from Sept 1900 to Feb 1901 totaling 2509.17, cash on hand 2088.56, and a bonded debt of 14700. They debated abandoning the sewer fund, transferring the road and bridge fund, and a water works proposal from Mr Tompkins with options for fire protection and school water. The meeting adjourned with plans to revisit the water issue and to consult the city attorney about recovering fire department funds.

A former Devils Lake resident B M Jerde died after falling from the third story of the old Plymouth block in Minneapolis. The Woodmen of the World and Lake Camp No 2837 M W A held funeral rites and burial planned in Devils Lake under Woodman auspices. Jerde left a wife and two children, with an eight year old son surviving.
