Peculiar Accident Damages Great Northern Engine
Train No. 8 entering the city suffered a broken left drive rod causing the opposite rod to snap. Fireman Charles Smallback was thrown from the cab and fractured his right leg, hospitalised in Grand Forks. Engineer Al Adams escaped serious harm after jumping to the throttle. A spare engine from Niagara was dispatched. no other losses reported.

Senator Hale Home After Rest From Senate Work
Senator Hale arrived in the city from Bismarck on Thursday evening to rest a few days. As chairman of the smelling committee his efforts and its favorable report draw praise, with few objections noted. He urged contracting bill enrollment to cut clerk hire and state expenses. Hale returned to the capital Sunday afternoon.
