Through Capt E E Heerman’s courtesy we enjoyed a delightful Sunday voyage on Devils Lake North Dakota. The shore line stretches fifty seven miles and the lake averages twenty four feet deep with turbulent waves in high wind. The Chautauqua grounds Ft Totten Indian school and 1000 acre North Dakota National Guard reservation dot the shore while mineral rich waters deter fish and even myths of sea serpents. The eleventh annual North Dakota Chautauqua opens June 27 and runs to July 20 with music lectures and sports.

Lake Ibsen Picnic Draws 150 at Leeds in 1886
A Norwegian picnic at Lake Ibsen four miles south of Leeds drew over 150 men last Sunday under the Lief Quartette of Leeds. Attendees included A. J. Stade Jens Svee Capt Sonnevik and others. only three of the 1886 attendees remain in the country. The Devils Lake visitors praised Leeds hospitality and the program centered on music.
