The eastern road near the city is in deplorable condition and must be repaired at once to prevent grain from farmers in Crary and beyond from using an unsafe route. Lake township officials are urged to fund the repairs, especially with a new mill and elevator ready to handle the crop. Meanwhile John Thelin is building a large barn on his farm east of the city.
City officials met in special session to condemn boardwalks and require cement walks, study the Deaf School sewer connection for 1000, extend water mains and hydrants, pursue back taxes, and pass a first reading on Fourth Street grade. They appointed arbitration for the De Fiore building, drafted a speed limit ordinance, and scheduled a special election to fund road work. John W Mahers advertises farm loans at low rates.
