Legislative turmoil in Dakota territory session rages
The Dakota territorial legislature opens in a charged climate with factions aligned around farmers, temperance, and railroad interests. Key figures include Smith Summel of Casa county and H. H. Keith of Sioux Falls as leaders, while Robt Lowry and Captain Van Ellen draw attention for their roles. Expect heated debates on rules changes, prohibition bills, woman suffrage, and election of constitutional convention sites as sessions move toward broader reforms.
