Washington Tea and High School Socials Highlight Devils Lake Society
Mrs W D Jones will visit Grand Forks then attend The Music Master and a big Masonic event. The Nineteenth Century club hosted a Washington Tea at the Bertram Greens with Martha Washington costumes and abundant treats. High School girls were entertained by the Serumgards on Hast Fourth street with prizes for Marie Cool and Winnefred McLaughlin. The Thomson residence hosted a grand "at home" with pink carnations and Washington hats, featuringMme Huesgend and Mrs Milham serving frappes while Martha Washington costumes served refreshments as the Devils Lake orchestra played.

Nelson Is Defeated In Unequal Ring Battle
In Richmond California on February 22 Battling Nelson was stopped in the fortieth round by referee Eddie Smith after a punishing bout with Ad Wolgast. Nelson, battered and bleeding, refused to quit as Wolgast was crowned the new lightweight champion amid cheering. Nelson’s manager John Robinson pleaded to throw in the sponge, but Abdul the Turk had already tossed it earlier.
