Devils Lake to Host North Dakota Jewelers Meeting 1911
The North Dakota Jewelers and Opticians Association unanimously chose Devils Lake to host its 1911 convention after Louis Hansen of Devils Lake delivered the decisive speech. Hansen was named president. officers include Hart Swaintead and O. O. Fields, with Geo K Munro as secretary and Max Rabinovich as treasurer. Delegates to the National convention were Frank V. Kent, W. G. Reinghart, B. Tilson, and Paul Girard. The local secretary H. Huengen will coordinate arrangements for the next gathering in the host city.

Bootlegger Arrested for Selling Intoxicating Liquor
Monday afternoon Joe Thomas was bound over to the district court for selling intoxicating siquors at his southeastern city residence. State witness Swan Peterson Mabel Peterson and Harry Hintgren testified they bought beer from Thomas at his home and at Peterson’s house, with Old Style cited. Thomas, unable to post $500 bail, remains jailed awaiting trial. Earlier he faced a nuisance charge but was released when the state showed no evidence. The Grand Opera House in Devila Lake hosted a Walk or Circuit attraction, a dramatization of a famous book, praised for romance, pathos, and comedy. The company featured twenty performers, a male quartet, and a Scottish fiddler, with strong local audience enthusiasm.
