Inquest Rules on Death of A. C. Rupert
Coroner John Nimmo convened a coroner's jury to probe the death of A. C. Rupert. Evidence showed a yard master ordered box cars into a yard track and told brakeman Dodder to cut them for clearance. one car remained, causing Rupert's death. The jury found negligence by brakeman Chas. E Dudder in not cutting the train sufficiently, per yard foreman’s direction. Rupert's body was sent to South Bend, Indiana, for burial.

Horse Market To Be Opened By Local Buyers
Frank Pitcher and J A Van Liew bought the Whip on Third Street and will open a regular sales stable. The barn previously served as a horse sales site under Mr Ip ple a noted northwest horseman. Nearly all county good horses were sold there, and the new owners plan to offer a large supply of work horses with honesty and strong reputations.
