Elks organization will host a Santa Claus Christmas noon dinner for needy Devils Lake youngsters. From the Associated Charities they secured names of children to invite. A substantial turkey feast will be served at the J O O F hall, aiming to create a memorable holiday with gifts for each child.
North Dakota farmers are urged to share actual crop yields for a state wide book on North Dakota Yields. The plan, run by the North Dakota Development League Press bureau, aims to show high yields to attract eastern and middle western settlers. Ramsey County farmers should send crop type, acres, yield per acre, selling price, land value, and contact details to C. Grand Forks to be represented in the volume.
The U S Census Bureau notes North Dakota dominates wheat with 8.5 million acres and about 80 million bushels. It also reports notable corn progress in 1911 and a large share of U S flax seed. The state shows over 90 percent gain in wheat production from 1899 to 1909.
President Pennington of the Soo railroad will visit Devils Lake next month to speak at the Lake Region Mid-Winter Fair and Farmers Institute. A booster committee confirmed his coming after meeting with him yesterday.

Devils Lake prepares a February concert by a new band organized under Chicago director Maxwell, a noted musical instructor. The group, now fifteen members, includes the city’s leading musicians and aims to focus on serious musical repertoire as it establishes itself. Maxwell plans to form a junior band afterward.
The Devils Lake Commercial club backs a Stotlar Investment Co franchise to operate a streetcar line. George Meiklejohn left Monday for Long Beach California via St Paul after visiting the Northwestern Land show. A former Ramsey county farmer he began with about 54000 and after nine years accumulated over 209000, earning nearly 1500 monthly during prime years. He reported farming Ramsey county yielded substantial grain exports during his ventures.
One hundred twenty boys and girls from across North Dakota attend the Young Farm Institute at North Dakota Agricultural College Fargo this week. Monroe Kirk, Ramsey county president, led the delegation departing Sunday night. Ramsey reps include Marie Kirk Charlotte Lake Vivian Burt Grace Bart Lloyd Anderson Ingram Anderson and Joseph Skiver.

Arthur Knapp, 19, died after being buried and smothered in a flax bin at a local elevator in Hamar. He was cleaning chutes when sucked into the grain. rescued alive but died soon after removal. Local authorities investigate the accident.

C C Collinson raises turkeys and chickens. A beef weight guessing contest offers a quarter beef as first prize, a ham second, and a turkey third.
The Bostonians visit the Grand in Devils Lake for shows on Friday and Saturday December 29 and 30 with a Saturday matinee. This eighth annual company tour promises a lively program of operettas under Mrs E Lang and George Bromley with new scenery and performers. Prices range 50c to $1.00, matinee 25c to 50c. Attorney L J Wehe will be a Christmas guest in Grand Forks.
The Salvation Army will include butter in the Christmas food baskets for Devils Lake’s needy. Each basket will have enough butter to help the Christmas meal, plus sacks of flour, turkeys, cranberry sauce, bread, celery, potatoes, cake and pie. Clothing will be donated to many homes.
A Lake Region booklet crafted by Hal S. Davies promotes North Dakota's Lake Region at the Northwestern Land Show in St Paul. Issued by the Lake Region Development Association, the work highlights farms and local views, with over 60,000 copies distributed to visitors.
Lake Region displayed at the Northwestern Land show in St Paul won the Sret prize cup and the flax sweepstakes. Judges were unanimous for Lake Region amid six states competing. Sax buttons sold by boosters drew attention, inviting visitors to visit the Lake Region where flax pays.
