A. L. Weston, 24, of Devils Lake was thrown from eastbound extra freight No. 66 near Leeds around midnight. He died about an hour later. coroner notified. Inquest planned. Weston’s body to be sent to Olney Illinois for burial. two tramps suspected of foul play fled.
J H Shepperd of the North Dakota Experiment Station warns grain growers to prevent macaroni wheat from mixing with common bread wheat. He notes macaron i wheat requires different handling and that careful separation and clean bins can avoid inferior flour blending and price penalties.
State board of equalization approved increases and reductions in personal property assessments for Ramsey county. Horses ages one and two rose 17 percent, three years old down 1 cent. cattle one and two years up small amounts. cattle over three years up 24 percent. males and other items with varied rises including swine 49 percent and steamboats 25 percent.
J H Shepperd of the North Dakota Experiment Station urges Valley City farmers to grow macaroni wheat and millers to pursue usable flour as a way to expand the wheat belt, boost yields, and reach terminal markets. A farm laborer near Starkweather was severely injured by a dehorned bull, suffering a broken arm and facial wounds and was hospitalized.
